Police Arrest Woman Over Alleged Child Pornography in Anambra, Rescue Four Children
Anambra police have arrested a 36-year-old woman over an alleged child pornography case in Onitsha and rescued four children during the investigation.
The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 36-year-old woman, identified as Anulika Onyeanusia, in connection with an alleged case of child pornography in Onitsha.
The arrest was made on the evening of September 10, 2026, after police operatives acted on open-source intelligence concerning a disturbing video circulating online that allegedly involved the sexual exploitation of a minor.
According to the command's spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the operation also led to the rescue of four children aged two, three, six and nine years.
Police also recovered sex toys and other items considered relevant to the ongoing investigation.
The suspect is currently in police custody as investigators work to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged offence and determine whether other persons may have been involved.
The suspect's husband is also being interrogated as part of the investigation to establish whether he had any connection to the alleged offence.
The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, described the alleged exploitation and abuse of children as unacceptable and directed a thorough and professional investigation.
The command said the immediate priority was the safety, dignity and wellbeing of the rescued children. It added that it would work with relevant child-protection and support agencies to ensure that the children receive appropriate care, protection, counselling and other assistance.
The police also assured that the identities and privacy of the children would be protected throughout the investigation and any subsequent proceedings.
The command commended vigilante operatives, bloggers and residents whose information, it said, assisted the investigation and contributed to the arrest.
The investigation remains ongoing, and the allegations against the suspect have not been determined by a court.
