GITEX Nigeria 2026 to Bring 750 Startups, $200bn in Capital to Lagos and Abuja
Four-day tech expo running August 31 to September 3 will spotlight Nigeria's sovereign AI and digital economy ambitions

GITEX Nigeria 2026 runs from August 31 to September 3 across Lagos and Abuja, bringing together more than 750 startups from Nigeria and over 25 other countries alongside investors collectively managing more than $200 billion in global capital. The four-day event is expected to draw technology companies, government officials and digital leaders for a programme built around artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure, cybersecurity and fintech.
More than 150 federal and state agencies are taking part, and Nigeria's Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani, has highlighted the importance of AI infrastructure to the country's broader digital strategy. The event splits into distinct components: a Tech Expo in Lagos, a Digital Government Summit in Abuja on August 31, the FDX Nigeria fintech conference on September 3, and a dedicated Startup Festival alongside workshops covering AI skills, no-code automation and fraud detection.
Organisers frame the gathering as part of a strategic push to move Africa "from mainly consuming technology to developing its own solutions and talent," a theme that has run through Nigerian government messaging on AI and digital infrastructure throughout 2026. The Lagos and Abuja legs are designed to appeal to different audiences, with the capital hosting policy-focused sessions on digital governance while the commercial hub hosts the trade-show floor and investor meetings.
