Presidency Commends Kogi's Infrastructure Drive After Tour of Projects

A federal delegation that toured Kogi State in July commended the pace of infrastructure delivery under Governor Usman Ododo, inspecting a wide range of road, education and healthcare projects built with combined federal and state funding.

The three-day tour, held July 19 to 21, 2026, and detailed in a report published August 2, covered projects including the ongoing rehabilitation of the Abuja-Lokoja-Benin highway using concrete technology, a completed 9-kilometre Okaito-Obagede-Ozouri road with four bridges, and reconstruction work on the federally funded Kabba-Egbe-Omuaran-Ilorin road.

At the Confluence University of Technology, delegation members inspected TETFund-financed faculty buildings, a female hostel and new engineering equipment, alongside a 300-bed teaching hospital under construction on the same campus. Officials also toured the GYB Model Science Secondary School in Nagazi, a 38-classroom facility commissioned in April that now serves nearly 1,800 students.

Sunday Dare, Special Adviser to the President on Media, said education “stands on a solid place” within the president's eight-point agenda, while state Works Commissioner Abdulsalami Ozigi Deedat said federal attention to the Abuja-Lokoja-Benin corridor made it feel like a newly initiated project despite years of stalled work.

Officials also highlighted a nearly-complete Ultra-Modern International Market in Lokoja, designed for 1,800 shops and 36 warehouses, and pointed to enrollment growth at CUSTECH, which officials said has risen from about 240 students in 2020 to more than 6,000 across nine faculties today.
