Ondo Governor Aiyedatiwa Promises Safety for Corps Members

Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has pledged a secure and supportive environment for the new corps members during their one-year national service. This assurance was made during the swearing-in ceremony for the 2026 Batch ‘C’ Stream I corps members, which took place in Ikare-Akoko.
The governor, who was represented at the event, emphasized the importance of safety and peace for the corps members as they embark on their service. He acknowledged the vital role that these young individuals play in contributing to the development of the state and the nation at large.
Aiyedatiwa's commitment comes at a time when concerns about the safety of youth in various regions of Nigeria have been heightened. The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program is designed to foster national unity and development, but incidents in the past have raised questions about the security of participants.
During the ceremony, Aiyedatiwa encouraged the corps members to embrace their roles with dedication and to actively engage with their host communities. He highlighted that their contributions could significantly impact local development and foster goodwill among residents.
The NYSC program has been a cornerstone of Nigeria's post-independence policy aimed at promoting national integration. As corps members settle into their new roles, the governor's assurances may help alleviate fears and encourage a productive service year.
In addition to the governor's remarks, the event featured speeches from various officials and representatives of the NYSC, who reiterated the importance of the corps members' service. They urged the new intake to remain vigilant and report any security concerns to the appropriate authorities.
As the corps members begin their service, it will be essential to monitor the situation in Ondo State and assess the effectiveness of the measures put in place to ensure their safety. The governor's assurances will be put to the test as these young Nigerians embark on their journey of service.
