Iheanacho Named Best Player of First Eight Rounds in Turkish 1. Lig
Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho has been recognised by beIN SPORTS after scoring 11 goals in his first eight league appearances for Bursaspor.
Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho has been named the best player of the opening eight rounds of the Turkish TFF 1. Lig by beIN SPORTS following his impressive start to life at Bursaspor.
Iheanacho was selected for the individual recognition during the beIN 1. Lig programme by moderator Turgay Keskin and commentator Tunç Kayacı. The duo also selected Bursaspor as the best-performing team of the opening eight rounds.
The 29-year-old forward has scored 11 goals and provided two assists in eight league appearances since joining Bursaspor as a free agent from Celtic during the summer.
He has found the net in every league match he has played for the Turkish club, producing an eight-game scoring streak.
Iheanacho's latest goals came on September 19, when he scored twice in Bursaspor's 2-1 comeback victory over Batman Petrolspor. The brace took his league tally to 11 goals and extended his scoring run to eight consecutive matches.
The scoring streak also saw Iheanacho match a Bursaspor record previously set by Brazilian striker Fernandao, who scored in eight successive league matches during the 2014/15 season.
His goals have contributed significantly to Bursaspor's strong start to the campaign. The club recorded six wins, one draw and one defeat from their first eight matches, collecting 19 points.
Bursaspor were second in the standings at the time of the recognition, behind Kayserispor on goal difference.
Iheanacho joined Bursaspor after leaving Celtic, where he helped the Scottish club secure a domestic league and cup double last season.
His form has also earned him a return to the Super Eagles, with Nigeria coach Eric Chelle including him in the squad for the October 6 international friendly against Russia.
The recognition from beIN SPORTS adds another milestone to Iheanacho's impressive start in Turkish football as he continues to play a key role in Bursaspor's campaign.
