Dangote Plans $35 Billion Annual Profit by 2030 with LNG Investment
The industrial giant aims to boost its profitability through significant investments in energy infrastructure.

Dangote Group, Nigeria's leading industrial conglomerate, has set an ambitious target to achieve an annual profit of $35 billion by the year 2030. This goal is part of a broader strategy that includes a significant investment of $8 billion in a new liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant. The announcement was made during a recent event attended by key stakeholders in the energy sector.
The planned LNG facility is expected to play a crucial role in enhancing Nigeria's energy infrastructure, which has been a bottleneck in the nation's economic growth. By investing in LNG, Dangote aims to not only increase its profitability but also contribute to the country's energy security and sustainability. This move aligns with global trends towards cleaner energy sources, as LNG is considered a more environmentally friendly alternative to traditional fossil fuels.
President William Ruto of Kenya, who attended the event, praised the Lagos refinery as a 'masterpiece of science, engineering, and art.' His remarks highlight the importance of modern refining technology and infrastructure in driving economic development in the region. The Lagos refinery, part of Dangote's extensive operations, is expected to significantly reduce Nigeria's reliance on imported petroleum products.
In addition to the LNG plant, the Dangote Group is also involved in other major projects, including the $17 billion Lamu refinery in Kenya. The first cargo of 2,930 tonnes for this refinery has already arrived, with a flag-off ceremony scheduled for Wednesday. This refinery aims to bolster Kenya's oil production capabilities and create jobs in the region.
The Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX) Chair has noted that Dangote's initial public offering (IPO) reflects President Bola Tinubu’s vision for economic growth and development in Nigeria. The IPO is seen as a pivotal moment for the company, potentially unlocking new capital for further expansion and investment in critical sectors.
As Dangote Group moves forward with its ambitious plans, industry experts will be closely monitoring the execution of these projects and their impact on both the Nigerian and regional economies. The success of the LNG plant and refinery projects could set a precedent for future investments in the energy sector across Africa.
