2027: No Politician’s Ambition Is Worth Your Life — Anyaso
Labour Party candidate Chima Anyaso has urged Bende youths to reject electoral violence while signing a development pact with constituents ahead of the 2027 elections.
Labour Party candidate for Bende Federal Constituency in Abia State, Dr Chima Desmond Anyaso, has urged Nigerians, particularly young people, to reject electoral violence ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Anyaso also signed a social contract with the people of Bende Local Government Area, urging residents to resist intimidation and electoral malpractice capable of undermining their right to freely choose their representatives.
He made the call on Wednesday at Uzuakoli during the presentation of his manifesto and the signing of the pact with stakeholders, Labour Party members and residents of Bende Federal Constituency.
Addressing stakeholders drawn from the constituency’s 13 wards, including traditional rulers, youth groups, pressure groups and civil society organisations, Anyaso warned young people against allowing themselves to be used to perpetrate violence during the elections.
“No election is worth your life. No politician’s ambition is worth destroying your future,” he said.
Anyaso Signs Bende Prosperity Contract
Presenting the document, which he described as the Bende Prosperity Contract, Anyaso said it was designed to outline his commitments to the constituency if elected to the House of Representatives in 2027.
He described the pact as a covenant developed with the interests and concerns of communities across Bende in mind.
“The pact is a covenant midwifed through hard work and diligence, taking into consideration the interests and plights of communities in Bende Federal Constituency,” he said.
The Labour Party candidate criticised what he described as inadequate representation and poor delivery of public projects in the constituency, despite the resources available to the people.
He promised to pursue federal interventions in road infrastructure, healthcare, education and skills acquisition, with particular attention to opportunities for young people and women.
Anyaso also urged voters to scrutinise the records and credentials of candidates seeking elective office in 2027.
He called on residents to move beyond campaign promises and demand transparency, accountability and measurable results from their representatives.
Candidate Pledges to Serve Two Terms
Anyaso also pledged that, if elected, he would serve a maximum of two terms in the House of Representatives and would not seek a third term.
He said the decision reflected the political understanding between the Umunna and Ikwu Isii blocs, which he said take turns producing elected representatives for the constituency.
“I will respect the arrangement and would not seek a third term in office; I pledge to support an Ikwu Isii candidate at the appropriate time since I am from Umunna section,” he said.
The pledge forms part of the candidate’s broader appeal for accountability and a more transparent relationship between elected representatives and their constituents.
Calls on Youths to Reject Political Violence
Anyaso reiterated that young people should not allow themselves to be recruited as instruments of violence or electoral malpractice.
He urged voters to defend their right to choose their representatives freely and to hold candidates accountable for their commitments.
The candidate also commended Abia State Governor Alex Otti, Labour Party leaders and residents of Bende for their support.
His campaign is centred on attracting infrastructure projects, improving access to healthcare and education, and expanding opportunities for youths and women if he secures the constituency’s mandate in the 2027 election.
